Ian Spencer and industrial designer Cairn Young together form the Yard Sale Project, through which they produce one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture that combine the highly accomplished technical design of Cairn Young with the master craftsmanship of Ian Spencer. The “Corsican” chair challenges the traditional view of what a chair should look like: it is asymmetrical and comprised of many types of hardwood, giving the surface a crisp patchwork quality with both light and dark colors. The chair is made from an astonishing array of twenty-six hardwoods. The process by which the woods are combined has been uniquely developed and applied on a large scale by Yard Sale Project in the Cosican series.
