Yvonne Jacquette

Yvonne Jacquette is a contemporary American painter and printmaker, celebrated for her aerial landscapes and Pointillist-like technique. Inspired by the view out of her window during a flight to San Diego in 1969, she began flying commercial airlines in order to sketch and study landscapes and cloud formations. A frequent depiction in her work is night views of New York City, for which Jacquette began chartering planes out of New Jersey in the 1980–1990s to get the views she desired. Born on December 15, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA, her landscapes are characterized by their intense color and elaborate detail. Exhibiting regularly with DC Moore Gallery in New York, the artist is also featured in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, and numerous other public collections. In 2003, she was inducted into the American Academy of Arts & Letters. Jacquette continues to live and work in New York, NY as well as in Searsmont, ME.
