Online Auction: April 5–17

Bukowskis presents Design Sale Helsinki – Finland’s leading auction for modern design. The auction presents several impressive design pieces by sought-after designers. Among the many highlights of the auction are a collection of colourful glass objects by Oiva Toikka, a "Vase aux Chèvres" vase by Pablo Picasso, and an impressive wall relief by Birger Kaipiainen.

The relief by Kaipiainen was created in his studio at Arabia in 1969. At the centre of the work there are two curlews standing amidst large, yellow violets. The surface is richly adorned by coloured ceramic beads typical for Kaipiainen and square pieces of amber-coloured mirror glass. The impression is bright, as the client had wished. The enchanting work has embellished the same family’s home in Helsinki since its completion and is now on public display for the first time.
