We are excited to announce the re-branding of Elan Fine Art as Paul Kyle Gallery this month. This decision has been made after serious and careful consideration with the inclusion of our artists and many who are near and dear to the gallery being included in the discussion. Renaming the gallery after the owner and director Paul Kyle was suggested by a close friend who is a powerhouse in the art world as it was thought that the name would carry the respect and diligence of Paul’s several decades in the art world. The gallery looks forward to expanded programming and will continue to share in the elevating and profound experiences that art offers us all. There is a palpable luminosity and profound sense of vibrancy to be found in this year’s much anticipated Winter Open House. Featuring new works from celebrated artists such as Charlotte Wall, Tony Robins, Robert Young, Robert Murray, and Sean Mills as well as a recent gallery acquisition by Jeff Wall, one is sure to be inspired by the variety of works on offer. Robin’s new work, “Material Object 1”, continues his line of enquiry into non-narrative physicality and material honesty, approaching the threshold of Neo-minimalism. Wall’s new work, “December”, seeks to expand and encourage engagement with her tactile and deliberate juxtaposition of materials with specific qualities that invite a viewer-led narrative. Whereas Murray’s series, “Chester County”, explores minimal metal-relief sculptures, presenting as a visual diary of his own flightpath, a technique he has likened to landscape painting. As well, Jeff Wall’s work, “Young Man Wet with Rain”, will be making it’s Paul Kyle Gallery debut. An exceptionally large work, Young Man Wet with Rain depicts a teenaged boy standing with gaze averted from the central focus point of the camera, offering a melancholic stoicism as he allows exquisitely detailed rain drops to roll theatrically down his body.
