This show is a proposition about mysteries, all ideas about time. --James Rosenquist
Acquavella Galleries, the exclusive representative for James Rosenquist, is proud to announce our first exhibition of new works by the artist. This is his first major solo exhibition since The Guggenheim Museum’s “James Rosenquist – A Retrospective” which was exhibited in Houston, New York, Bilbao and Wolfsburg in 2003-2004.
In 2007, Rosenquist completed the series of brilliantly colored and furiously dynamic works exhibited in this show. These paintings demonstrate and explore perceptions of time as theoretical as Einstein’s space-time continuum and as concrete as the ticking of a classroom clock.
A fully illustrated catalogue with an essay by Sarah C. Bancroft, co-curator of the artist’s retrospective at The Guggenheim Museum, is being published in conjunction with the exhibition.
James Rosenquist: Time Blades opens on Wednesday, October 31st and runs through Friday, December 14th. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10-5pm.
