Lucian Freud Recent Work

Acquavella Contemporary Art is pleased to present an exhibition of new work by Lucian Freud. The show includes ten major paintings and five new etchings, all created since the artist’s last sold-out exhibition in New York at Acquavella Contemporary Art in 2004.

Portraying startling female nudes, arresting portraits, and dynamic garden views, the exhibited works continue and develop the themes the 83 year-old artist has explored throughout his career. The show also includes a portrait and an etching of the artist’s dealer, William Acquavella, as well as the work, The Painter Surprised by a Naked Admirer, which caused a sensation when it was recently exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Although three of these works were exhibited in April 2006 at the Victoria and Albert Museum, these works are all being shown for the first time in New York.

The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10 – 5 pm at 18 East 79th Street, New York City.
