The gallery is pleased to present a selection of Bernard Langlais works on paper, wooden sculpture and wall reliefs. Known for his depictions of whimsical wild and domestic animals, Langlais often used the lion as a guise for self-portraits. The show includes large lions (and tigers and bears) along side early abstract wood constructions from the 1950s that were first shown in New York at Leo Castelli before Langalis retreated to Maine. Proceeds from the sale of these works from the artist’s estate benefit an Maine non-profit educational institution.
