An exhibition surveying the early figurative paintings of Neil Welliver will be on view at ALEXANDRE GALLERY from December 1 through January 26, 2002. The artist will be present for a reception at the gallery on Saturday, December 1, 1 to 4 pm.

During the late 1960s and early 1970s, before turning to the Maine landscape as his exclusive subject, Welliver painted large-scale nude figures in forest settings. The show will mark the first presentation of this body of work since the 1970s.

A fully illustrated catalogue with essays by Frank H. Goodyear, Jr. and Barry Schwabsky accompanies the exhibition.

Neil Welliver is represented exclusively by ALEXANDRE GALLERY.
