Istanbul’s preeminent and vibrant contemporary art gallery Anna  Laudel is delighted to announce its participation in Abu Dhabi Art from  November 22nd to 26th, 2023, within the Modern & Contemporary  section.

For its 15th edition, Abu Dhabi Art continues  its dedication to showcase an eclectic array of contemporary and modern  artworks from across the globe, serving as a conduit for cultural  exchange, uniting artists, galleries, collectors, and art enthusiasts  worldwide to collaborate and exchange their unique viewpoints, concepts,  and artistic creations. Anna Laudel's curated selection for this fair  features artworks by Ramazan Can, Tugce Diri, Ekin Su Koc, Hayal  Incedogan, and Serpil Yeter with an emphasis on works created especially for this fair, that have not been shown before.

Throughout the history of humankind, migration and immigration  have  profoundly shaped countless lives. Similarly, climate change and  globalization played a more and more prominent role in this phenomenon  since the 21st century. Regardless of the reason why, the journey of  displacement always leaves a story behind, while forming new traditions,  cultural values and identities. The five artists presented by Anna Laudel at Abu Dhabi Art, each engage in a dialogue surrounding the  aforementioned topics through their artworks.

Ramazan Can weaves the tales of his ancestors using family heirloom fabrics and  rugs, juxtaposed with the starkness of concrete, into playful  sculptures. His work does not lack a commentary on the clash between tradition and urbanization.

Tugce Diri unearths the beauty of old Istanbul amid its current decay and  debris, infusing new life into these remnants through depicting and  referencing artisanal techniques maintained to this day, including ancient brick-firing methods.

Ekin Su Koc shares her personal journey of migration from Istanbul to Berlin  and Copenhagen, exploring the struggle of forging a new identity in  unfamiliar surroundings. How fragile and ever changing ones own reality can be, or one's perception of the world is ever changing, is what the artist expresses through her lively collages.

Hayal Incedogan delves into the complexities of self-identity and  perception, using mirrors as a literal representation of how one's sense  of self and surroundings interplay and evolve, blurring the lines  between reality and reflection.

Serpil Yeter's  narrative-rich paintings, characterized by a unique color palette,  vividly depict the stories of countless individuals crossing landscapes  and seas in search of new homes.

Under the umbrella of a  theme governing our global reality, Anna Laudel´s booth can be found in  Gallery A, Number A8 throughout the entire duration of Abu Dhabi Art  from November 22nd through November 26th 2023.
