Atrium Gallery announces two upcoming solo exhibitions. STEVEN SORMAN will be showing “New Work” featuring multi-media prints, drawings, watercolors, and specific, unique works on loose linen. Sorman is a national artist, known for his innovative printmaking techniques and complex, fluid abstract content. He is represented in major museum collections including Museum of Modern Art, New York, National Gallery of Art, Metropolitan Museum, Whitney Museum, Art Institute of Chicago, and locally, St. Louis Art Museum, and Washington University.
Also shown will be an exhibition of woodcuts, drawings, and monoprints by St. Louis artist, JIM HARRIS. Titled “Figures,” this new work depicts the human figure through various media and poses exploring context and surface in this classic subject. Harris was a long time professor at Washington University who has also pursued his own work, studying under Leslie Laskey and others. Now devoting full time to his studio, he is producing new works on paper in a variety of media.
Both exhibitions open Friday, November 20 and run through January 9. A reception for the artists will be held Friday, November 20, 6-8 p.m. Gallery hours are Wed-Sat, 10-6, Sunday noon-4, and Tuesday by appointment.
