December 1st, 2020 – Miami – Avant Gallery is pleased to announce its programming for Miami Art Week, arranged to take place physically and robotically starting December 1st, 2020. Now in its 13th year, Avant Gallery has become a leading destination for cutting-edge contemporary art and will be opening a new location at the Aventura Mall, centrally located between Miami and Palm Beach.
With custom-built booths that call to mind the atmosphere of an art fair, the new Aventura location is located next to Louis Vuitton and offers collectors an opportunity to participate in the art fair experience despite the cancellation of Art Basel Miami this year.
Avant has an established reputation for representing the most sought-after mid-career and up-and-coming artists, and the gallery’s impressive repertoire can now also be viewed robotically in real-time, worldwide. The gallery’s other locations in Brickell City Centre in Miami and at Hudson Yards in New York City will also take part in the Miami Art Week proceedings.
The 5,000 square-foot Aventura exhibition space is configured to mimic an art fair experience, with booths presenting solo exhibitions for each artist. The innovative placement of a fine art fair within a commercial mall space emphasizes Avant’s exceptional ability to bring an air of accessibility to the art world. This activation, which will be on view for a full year, aims to offer a uniquely timed opportunity to view Avant’s collection in-person. Additionally, Avant will offer private appointments with its staff of experienced art consultants.
Collectors from around the world may also participate in this event ‘telephysically,’ as founder Dmitry Prut calls it. Avant Gallery will employ avatar robotics to allow collectors to experience the exhibition. Through this technology, viewers can experience the artworks as they are displayed within the space from the comfort of their homes and offices. The aptly named ‘Avantar’ uses ground-breaking video technology and robotics to bring the collector directly into the gallery space.
The art fair-style exhibition space will feature a diverse spectrum of booths with works by artists including Skyler Grey, Paul Rousso, BNS, Terry O’Neill, Josh Mayhem, Invader, LaSso, Tim Tadder, Becky Rosa, Will Kurtz, El Pez and Mauricio Avayu.
