Timeline

Born into an art-collecting family in New York City, Gold Man has had lifelong exposure to the arts from a childhood in Soho in the 1980s to his family’s development of Wynwood and the Wynwood Walls. However, it was the untimely death of Gold Man’s father, Tony Goldman (both his best friend and business partner), which led Gold Man to explore a new life path. Grief-stricken, Gold Man spent one year to discover new skills and hone his craft, culminating into his oeuvre which centers on a celestial theme inspired by the Hubbell telescope.

As an eternal optimist, Gold Man focuses his energy on the present and future, never looking back. He works spontaneously with thoughts of the cosmos running through his brain, and creates works by imagining what exists in far-flung galaxies. His use of colors and textures does not require forethought as he chooses them instinctively during the creative process, and also extemporaneous is Gold Man’s use of glitter which he applies as star dust, reflecting his vision at that moment in time.

The varied textures, colors, and depths of Gold Man’s pieces reflect his notion that the universe is filled with infinite opportunities while the dynamic relationship between light and the glitter demonstrates his appreciation for the world’s constant state of flux. His multilayered technique using rich hues along with varying degrees of gold lends to mysterious abstraction and allows the viewer to fantasize and ponder his or her own meaning of the cosmos, fulfilling Gold Man’s artistic objective.
