Axel Vervoordt is pleased to participate in this year’s inaugural edition of Frieze Seoul, Frieze’s first fair in Asia, as well as KIAF Seoul, South Korea’s long-running international art fair. Frieze Seoul will take place from September 2-5, 2022, and both fairs will be held at COEX. All ticket holders will be allowed entry to both fairs.

This year’s presentation for Frieze Seoul will be located in the fair’s Masters section and features artworks from different eras and geographies, in an attempt to search for the universal and timeless. We’re pleased to present a focus on works by Yun Hyong-keun and Chung Chang-sup and the avant-garde artists’ strong ties with their contemporary counterparts from around the world. An additional highlight of the presentation is a magnificent stone head of a Buddha, from the Northern Qi Dynasty (550 – 577 A.D.).

“We’re pleased to participate in two renowned fairs simultaneously, as both organisations have their finger on the pulse of what is happening today in the art worlds of Korea and beyond,” says gallery director Boris Vervoordt. “Our participation is a result of our appreciation for Korean culture and the strong presence of Korean artists within our roster. We’re grateful for the opportunity to create two unique presentations, that although very different, truly make each other stronger.”
