From April 11th to June 1st, 2021, AYE Gallery will present Shi Xinji's solo exhibition "East Mountain Daybreak". The new exhibition includes dozens of marvelous paper works and oil paintings created from early 2020 to 2021 during the covid-19 pandemic outbreak. Among them, a series of small paper works inspired by the traditional theme "Mountain Search" using various materials such as pastel, soths, crayon and watercolor will be on display. Several small oil paintings with irregular frames will also unveil at the exhibition. Unlike previous thick-painted works of his, they seem to become all the more "flattening". As an essential part of the picture space, the gentle slope on the sides makes up for the "depth" missing from the flattened picture. It can also be seen as an attempt to break away from a two-dimensional plane to a three-dimensional space. This new exhibition adopts the word "Daybreak", which not only summarizes the overall artistic conception of the displayed works, but also looks forward to a glorious and auspicious future.
