In 1985, Mark Baron, aspiring to publish editions with an emphasis on intimacy and immediacy, invited Donald Baechler, Michael Byron, Michael Hafftka, and Not Vital, to produce their first etchings. Since that time, Baron/Boisanté Editions, established by Mark Baron and Elise Boisanté in 1987, has completed more than 50 projects comprising well over 200 prints, photographs, and multiples.

Projects by Baron/Boisanté Editions have been acquired for the permanent collections of numerous museums including the Art Institute of Chicago; Baltimore Museum of Art; Brooklyn Museum of Art; The Metropolitan Museum of Art; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Museum of Modern Art; New York Public Library; Philadelphia Museum; The Rhode Island School of Design Art Museum; and the Whitney Museum of American Art, as well as various European museums.
