Elvira Bach (*1951) is known for her self-confident and strong women's portraits - characteristic attributes such as dominantly depicted hands or high heels grown together with the body are immanent in the motifs. The artist's works speak the language of her own life: the model for her pictures is always herself, whether as a young artist in nightlife or as a mother balancing between work, children and housework.

In the eighties she became known as a representative of the Junge Wilde, and in 1982, at the very beginning of her career, she was invited to the Documenta in Kassel. This was followed by exhibitions all over the world, museums such as the Modern Museum of Art in New York as a collection of her paintings. In a neo-expressive manner Elvira Bach creates a reflection of her life. Inspired by her adopted home Berlin, influences from travels and her family environment, she developed an unmistakable visual language between symbolism and expression.

In our current exhibition we show a cross-section of Elvira Bach's broad oeuvre. Almost 40 years of work are shown in an anniversary presentation on the occasion of the artist's round birthday and the 20th anniversary of the friendly relationship with the gallery. Large canvas works meet works on paper and a sculpture made of Murano glass. The exhibited works take the visitor through the artistic and biographical transformation of the artist. But one thing stands out: the fidelity to her own style, which the artist has pursued stringently since the beginning of her career.
