Koo Ja-Hyun
Die Arbeiten des 1955 in Deagu/Korea geborenen koreanischen Künstlers Koo Ja-Hyun befinden sich in der Tradition asiatischer Kunst, welche der abendländischen Kunst zunächst diametral gegenübersteht. Ausgehend von dieser kulturellen Verortung lässt Koo Ja-Hyun jedoch eine zeitgenössische, aktuelle und vor allem für beide Kulturkreise gültige Kunst entstehen, indem er sich auf die essentiellen Aspekte der Einfachheit, (Geistes-)haltung und Harmonie konzentriert. Durch die Reduktion auf ein geometrisches Formenvokabular stellt er den eigentlichen Prozess der Bildentstehung in den Mittelpunkt. Die damit einhergehende Perfektion jahrhundertealter Techniken ermöglicht es dem Künstler, auf den bewegten Bildoberflächen auch abstrakte Phänomene sichtbar werden zu lassen.

Koo Ja-Hyun
The artworks of Koo Ja-Hyun, born in 1955 in Daegu/Korea, are in the tradition of asian art which is first of all diametrically opposed to occidental art. By focusing on essential aspects like simplicity, mentality and harmony, based on the fact of this cultural localization, Koo Ja-Hyun developed a form of art which is contemporary, current and significant for both cultural areas. With the reduction to a geometric repertoire of imagery he centres the origination process of art. By the perfection of century-old techniques the artist is able to visualize abstract phenomenons on the vivid surface of his artworks.
