Jochen Pankrath combines surrealistic moments, such as the picture  within a picture, with already familiar motifs. Thus, for the viewer,  immediately created illusion correlates with familiar reality. In the  sense of the basic idea of realism, Pankrath questions the boundaries of  reality, pictorial spaces in his works are not limited to the carrier  ground but strive to bridge and expand into reality.
