1930: Born in Highland Park, IL.
1951: Graduated from Goucher College with a degree in Political Science.
1953: Married and moved to Chattanooga, TN.
1961: Became the Regional Director of The Experiment in International Living, coordinating host families throughout the Southeast.
1968: Was sent to Tokyo through The Experiment in International Living, where she discovered photography.
1974: Met Lisette Model and studied with her intermittently on trips to New York City.
1979: Awarded Guggenheim Fellowship.
1984: Moved to lower Manhattan where she built her darkroom and studio.
1989: Awarded National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.
