Timeline

Liane Whittum’s work focuses on pastoral, industrial, and wild landscapes. Liane also focuses heavily on still life work. She transitions between still life, landscape and plein air work, done primarily in oil paint in a classical realism style. She gathers information on site and paints plein-air when composing landscape paintings. Liane will often finish her paintings in her studio, which after consideration may be complete as a loose work, or become a more involved work of higher refinement.

Liane received her BA in Studio Art from New England College, and is a juried member of the International Guild of Realism (IGOR), Newburyport Art Association member, and a juried member of the NH Art Association. Liane has won many awards including the Washington SQ Outdoor Exhibit Award and the Gamblin Material for a Landscape in Oil Award from the Salmagundi Club in NYC.
