Look! A Huge Pink Ball in the Art Fair!, 2017
15,000 USD
For the 2017 edition of Art Basel Hong Kong, de Sarthe Gallery presents a review of its forty-year history with Asian art. From Masters (Chen Wen Hsi, Chu Teh-Chun, Atsuko Tanaka, and Zao Wou-Ki) to young emerging artists (Liang Ban, Lin Jingjing, Lu Xinjian, Ma Sibo, Wang Xin and Zhou Wendou), the exhibition presents how de Sarthe Gallery roots itself in art history while actively pursuing the cutting-edge. With a storied history that stretches back to the 70s, the gallery continues to lead the Asian art scene today and recently opened a new 10,000 sq/foot location in the art district of Wong Chuk Hang, Hong Kong. Additionally, in 2016 the Beijing location inaugurated a Project Space dedicated to enhancing and supporting the local art scene. The exhibition at Art Basel will also demonstrate the importance of the breakthroughs made by historic artists and how their spirits cross decades to now echo and dialogue with the creation of a young generation exploring new forms of expression. In particular, the show focuses on a generation originating from China but no longer identifying as “Chinese.”
