Biography

Timeline

1944
Igor Mitoraj was born in Oderan, Germany, from Polish mother and French father.
He then had a classic painting education at the Cracovie Art School and at the Cracovie Academy of Fine Art.
1968
In 1968 he came to Paris to follow his own study at the National School of Fine Arts where he approached the painting. After a two years journey in South America he diverts the sculpture for the first time and his first solo sculpture exhibition is held at the Galerie la Hune in Paris in 1976. Then he open a sculpture atelier in Paris and travels to New York and Greece where he studies classic sculpture.
1979
In 1979 he visits Carrara in Italy and decides that marble is the perfect material for his sculpture. Since the opening of his atelier in Carrara, in 1983, he has been living between Italy and Paris.
1995
Began to collaborate with the Contini Art Gallery
2014
Died in Paris, France
