For the second time, DIE GALERIE is pleased to present the strikingly colourful compositions of Korean artist Kim Du Rye, this time as part of a double exhibition alongside the works of Italian sculptor Riccardo Cordero. Born in Alba, near Turin, Riccardo Cordero has been cultivating an intensive relationship with Asian countries for some years, especially China, where his monumental sculptures have been displayed both in public places and in private collections on several occasions. His most recent achievement is the huge corten steel sculpture New ET, with a height of 17 metres the most imposing of his sculptures so far, which he created for the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. Kim Du Rye stems from an artist family, she graduated from the renowned Chosun College of Fine Arts in 1979 and has since enjoyed numerous solo and group exhibitions in Korea as well as abroad. In her painting, she unifies Western colour field painting with her sense for harmony and balance. In their – in their very individual way – abstracting artworks, both artists make use of a universal language. While Riccardo Cordero engages with space through his complex geometric constructions and dynamic formations, Kim Du Rye captivates the viewer first and foremost through her exuberant chromatic combinations. Through their works, both artists are able to release their own unique form of energy, which finds a perfect synthesis in this exhibition.
