Born in Logansport, Indiana, but raised in Indianapolis
1916
Enrolled in the Cincinnati Art Academy
1917
Left for France to serve in World War I
1918
Blinded temporarily after being gassed and spent several months in a base hospital in France
1919
Following his discharge, returned to the Art Academy where he studied for another year
1924
Began a thirty-five year long teaching career as the head of the art department at Oklahoma State University
1930
Studied in France
1952
Elected to membership in the National Academy of Design for graphic arts
1959
Following his retirement from the university, Reed relocated to Taos where he set up a studio
1985
Died in New Mexico
