Paintings by New Orleans Newcomb School printmaker Frances Swigart are featured in the Dirty Linen Night opening reception of SIMPLY DIVINE in the French Quarter.
After a lengthy spring visit to Italy, lilies and orchids are prominent in arched shapes of Medieval architecture. Oil painting and glazes with lace imprints over traditional gold, silver, and copper leaf on wood enhance the lifelong drawing skills that have made Swigart distinguished in the decorative arts. Gold leaf impressions from lace create the final aura of soft patina integral to Louisiana. The strength of structure in composition
lies in its simplicity.
Frances Swigart has had an atelier in New Orleans since 1975 . She lives and works in the French Quarter.
