Fergus McCaffrey is proud to feature works by Marcia Hafif, Richard Nonas, and Carol Rama at FIAC 2017. The gallery will present a selection of masterworks by the artists on view. 

Born in Pomona, California (in 1929), and hailed as a major proponent of Minimalism, Marcia Hafif has developed a personal life-long practice of exploring and experimenting with the process and materials of painting. Hafif’s work has been exhibited extensively and she currently has two exhibitions at Kunstmuseum St. Gallen and at Kunsthaus Basselland in Switzerland. 

Richard Nonas (b. 1936) is considered one of the leading artists of New York Post-Minimalist sculpture, and will be represented by an array of wall-mounted and floor-based works, made primarily in steel and wood in a range of dimensions. In addition, FIAC has specially commissioned Nonas to create a large-scale temporary outdoor installation on Avenue Winston Churchill at the entrance of the Grand Palais. 

An outlier in artistic circles, Carol Rama (b. 1918) refused to adhere to any one specific movement or style, choosing instead to create a diverse body of work focused on issues of deviance, illness, madness, and sexuality. Rama has recently been the subject of numerous exhibitions, among them the 2014-17 European traveling retrospective, The Passion According to Rama; in addition, she was also the subject of Carol Rama. Spazio anche più che tempo, presented by the Archivio Carol Rama at the Palazzo Ca’ nova in Venice. Rama, who died in 2015, won the Biennial’s Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement award in 2003.
