More than 50 young academy artists from all over Germany show their works in Düsseldorf. With the annual "Academy Selection", the Kellermann Gallery in  Düsseldorf presents a unique overview of current young academy art. The Düsseldorf gallery owners Bärbel and Matthias Kellermann toured the  annual and final presentations of almost all German art academies and  walked the corridors down to the last room. Several thousand works were  sifted through, the best were then thematically grouped and the  logistical work could begin. More than 60 artists were finally contacted  and written to. "The response was overwhelming," says gallery manager  Ann-Marie Wörner. "Almost all of the invited artists accepted  enthusiastically."

As a quintessence, Galerie Kellermann is presenting more than 50 artists  from 13 academies from Kiel to Munich in two consecutive exhibitions.  Among them, of course, are graduates of the Düsseldorf Art Academy. On  display is a spectacular selection of paintings, sculptures and  (digital) installations.

Part 1 of the ACADEMY SELECTION - from April 21 to May 27, 2023 - shows  works around the theme of man and society under the title "Human  Society".

Part 2 of the ACADEMY SELECTION - from June 2 to July 8, 2023 - is  entitled "Shifts in Nature" and is thematically dedicated to nature and  human-induced change.
A 120-page catalog will be published to accompany the exhibitions. In  addition, all artists will be presented on the website  "academy-selection.de".  
 

The ACADEMY SELECTION AWARD
As in the previous year, visitors, the public and experts will be  invited to nominate their three favorites during their visit to the  exhibition. The best three artists will then be presented at the art  fair "POSITIONS" in Berlin in September. The winner will receive the  "ACADEMY SELECTION AWARD" worth 5000 euros.
 

Düsseldorf as a hub and springboard for young art. Anyone who has followed the previous exhibitions of the Kellermann  Gallery knows: the Kellermann team does its work with all its passion.  "Above all, our commitment is also to Düsseldorf as a creative and  future-oriented art metropolis," says Bärbel Kellermann. "On the one  hand, we want to promote young talent - through the exhibitions  themselves but also, of course, through the ACADEMY SELECTION AWARD. In  addition, we want to present Düsseldorf as a hub and springboard for  young art by bringing the best Academy artist:s from all over Germany  here."
