After Parrot can't talk, 2010 (an exhibition and residency in the Krinzinger projects) and SAME THING EVERYDAY / HER GÜN AYNI SEY, 2013, Still Life is the third solo exhibition by Turkish artist Inci Furni at Galerie Krinzinger. Since 2014, in her exhibitions called Vol., Inci Furni has been revisiting and interpreting the main themes of painting in her site-specific installations with ephemera, found objects, and performative drawings. In her exhibition Still Life, Inci Furni creates a still life from performative color gestures based on the video performance I Found This on the Way, which she showed at the 2019 solo exhibition at the Museum Arter in Istanbul. Furni spatially connects paintings and airbrush works on paper and merges them from the paper into the room and from the room to the painting. In her conceptual examination of the idea and the act of painting, she transforms the still life into an installation that spreads throughout the room. Such as rolling and scupting paper work. The discourse on painting and drawing, surface and depth, abstraction versus representation, epic and everyday, such as verticality and horizontality, play a role in her work. Inci Furni depicts all these opposites on one surface, plays with them and deconstructs them Inci Furni was born in 1976 in Bursa, Turkey. She completed her BA in painting at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul. Parallel to her work as a solo artist, she was part of the Hafriyat group between 2007 and 2010.
