Der zweite Teil unserer Ausstellung „Room of One’s Own“ setzt das an Virginia Woolfs bekannten Roman angelehnte Konzept fort. „Ein Zimmer für sich allein“ avancierte seit den 1970er-Jahren zu einer Standardlektüre der Frauenbewegung. Als junge Frau unterlag Virginia Woolf den Bedingungen der viktorianischen Gesellschaft, die für Frauen nur einen sehr beschränkten Wirkungs- und Entfaltungsraum vorsah. Auch heute ist ihr Roman besonders relevant, er öffnet eine universelle Diskussion über die Notwendigkeit eines Raumes für Kreation, für Stille und natürlich für Kunst. In unserer Gruppenausstellung präsentieren wir die Werke einer Vielzahl herausragender Künstlerinnen, welche ihre Arbeiten in Beziehung zur Wissenschaft, Geschichte und Literatur angehen und den Verlauf der Kunstgeschichte mitgestalten. Um eine neue, non-physische Dimension erweitert wird die Ausstellung durch die digitalen Kunstwerke von Goshka Macuga, Thu Van Tran und Ilit Azoulay, welche die Erforschung des Themenkomplexes in die digitale Sphäre überführen. Ihre Arbeiten werden im Rahmen der Ausstellung als NFTs (Non-Fungible Token) geminted.

The second part of our exhibition “Room of One’s Own” continues the concept inspired by Virginia Woolf’s well-known novel. The book advanced to a standard reading of the women’s movement since the 1970s. As a young woman, Virginia Woolf was subjected to the conditions of Victorian society, which provided only a very very narrow sphere of activity and development for women. Even today, her novel is particularly relevant, opening up a universal discussion about the need for a space for creation, for stillness and, of course, for art. In our group exhibition, we present the work of a variety of outstanding women artists who approach their work in relation to science, history and literature, shaping the course of art history. A new, non-physical dimension is added to the exhibition by the digital artworks of Goshka Macuga, Thu Van Tran and Ilit Azoulay, which transfer the exploration of the theme complex into the digital sphere. Their works will be minted as NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) as part of the exhibition.
