AXEL HÜTTE is one of the most relevant representatives of the Dusseldorf School of Photography. Architecture and landscapes are the focal points of his work. Numerous international exhibitions prove the artist's importance: Städelmuseum Frankfurt 2017, Museum Kunstpalast Dusseldorf 2017/2018, Josef Albers Museum Quadrat Bottrop 2017/2018, Franz Gertsch Museum Burgdorf, Switzerland 2018 and Kunsthalle Krems, Austria 2018.
BRIGITTE KOWANZ's work has shaped European light art since the 1980s significantly: central elements are neon lights and mirrors. At ART COLOGNE she will, for the first time, show two free-standing sculptures, consisting of neon and glass cubes on mirrored steles. BRIGITTE KOWANZ represented Austria at the 57th Venice Biennale. In 2009, she received the Grand Austrian State Prize for Visual Arts and in 2017 The German Award on Light Art.
Over the past sixty years the late French artist FRANÇOIS MORELLET has been a main representative of concrete geometric art, demonstrated in painting, sculpture, installation, kinetic art and drawing. The Dia Art Foundation presented an exhibition in 2017/2018 at both its spaces Dia:Beacon and Dia:Chelsea celebrating the artist's oeuvre.
In 2019, MAURIZIO NANNUCCI will be celebrating his 80th birthday. The artist uses language's multi-layered, semantic possibilities, visualising them through light and space. MAURIZIO NANNUCCI has repeatedly participated at the Venice Biennale and at documenta Kassel. In the summer of 2015 he was honoured with an exceptional solo exhibition, spanning his entire career, at the MAXXI museum in Rome.
