At Art Basel Miami Beach 2019 Galerie Thomas is showing a selection of 20th century European Avant-garde works by Max Ernst, Pablo Picasso, Fernand Leger, Lucio Fontana and Marc Chagall. The exhibits are extended by an excerpt from the gallery program, in German Expressionism with Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee and Edvard Munch and in Classical Modernism with Joaquín Torres-García, Wilfredo Lam, Hans Arp, Jacques Lipchitz and Aristide Maillol. Sam Francis Untiteld, 1980 Acrylic on canvas 310 x 635 cm / 122 x 250 in.
Galerie Thomas is proud to participate in the first edition of the fair’s new sector Meridians, presenting a large-scale painting by Sam Francis, which is an outstanding example for his ambition to create massive paintings that allow him to develop rhythm and patterns beyond the usual surface of a canvas painting, but locally fixed as it would be the case in a mural painting.
