He is trained as modeling sculptor for decorative arts and crafts
1909
Works for Max Reinhard´s theater productions at the Deutsches Theater Berlin
1911
Becomes 'Meisterschüler' of Peter Breuer at the Kunstakademie-Charlottenburg and travels through Belgium, Great Britain and France where he visits Picasso in Paris
1918 - 1924
One of the founders of the Novembergruppe
1931
Appointed member of the 'Preussische Akademie der Künste' Berlin of which he resigns in ´37
1935
Teaches at the Annot art school, NY
1937
Emigrates to Turkey where he teaches since ´36 at the department of sculpture of the 'Akademie der Künste' in Istanbul. His works are abolished and destroyed in Nazi Germany
1952 - 1965
Teaches architecture at the 'Technische Universitaet' Istanbul
1955
Receives the 'Grosses Bundesverdienstkreuz' of the BRD
