The important painter and sculptor Max Ernst, co-founder of  Surrealism and one of the most important and influential German artists  of the 20th century, would have celebrated his 130th birthday on April  2, 2021. On this occasion, Galerie Thomas is showing a selection of  paintings, works on paper and sculptures from six decades of his work  from March 1st to April 15th, thus enabling a concentrated overview of  his extensive oeuvre. Max Ernst's works have always been part of the programme of Galerie  Thomas, and have been shown in many exhibitions and at art fairs, not  least in two solo exhibitions of the artist. Now a group of outstanding  pictures and sculptures is to pay tribute to the genius of Max Ernst's  artistic work. The exhibition will be shown physically with the original works in  the premises of Galerie Thomas in Munich, as well as made accessible  digitally expanded. Interested visitors are invited to get live information about individual works in front of the original via a zoom meeting. An online catalogue will be published presenting the works in the exhibition in text and images.
