“A European spirit with experience of America,” Sergio Piccoli (b. Verona 1946) returns to the Galleria Open Art in Prato with an exhibition of around eighty works, both on canvas and paper, executed from 2000 to the present.

A very consistent artist, Piccoli’s career now spans forty years, during which his painting has been characterized by a series of cycles. The Superficie (Surfaces), Mutazioni (Mutations), and Armonie (Harmonies) played a major role in his output before he arrived at the definitive form of his works in the last decade, where space and color coincide, and yellows and oranges expand continuously to the point of explosion
