For the 2008 Milan Furniture Fair, the Gallery Edizioni Paola Colombari proudly presents "Karim Rashid Blobulous", a solo exhibition by Karim Rashid, opening the 16th of april. The exhibition¹s futuristic title focuses on the ephemeral, organic theme of the next millennium. Karim Rashid, international leading figure in different fields, design, and architecture, is famous worldwide for having created objects such as the Umbra Oh Chair, is considered a striking chararcter in the new approach to contemporary design. Karim exploits the possibilities of the digital age and by doing so has created a new expression of de-symbolization that can be recognized in his entire work rage from product to architecture to fashion to music. The installation composed by six Blob chairs made of fiberglass in powerful colours as Blue-Pink, Chrome-Orange, Chrome-Pink, Pink, Lime- Black, Pink-Black.The chairs testify with the organic, curvy forms that if freedom had a form it would be a never-ending undulating boundless, biomorphic, shape that is in perpetual motion. Form follows Fluid. In a post-industrial house our conditions will be more relaxed, softer and blobular, where our experiences will be more hypertextual and less linear. The blobchair speaks to the new casualism that is feeding our ever changing and shifting global lifestyles. Blob Architecture may shape our environments; organic systems will change our paradigms, and Organomics may shape the objects with touch everyday.
