Leaves for Mexico and studied under muralist Rodriguez Lozano
1937
Participates in the National Congress of Writers and Artists, organized by the League of Revolutionary Writers and Artists (LEAR)
1941
Begins working on his roosters (or gallos)
1950
Award, Fourth National Exhibition of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving
1956
His work yellow Gallo, gets merit award of $ 500.00 in the Eighth National Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture and goes to the National Museum collection
1961 - 1963
Appointed first president of the Arts section of the Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (UNEAC), a position he held until 1963
1961
Participates in organizing the First Congress of Writers and Artists of Cuba
