Urbanization and Globalization: Korean Artists

Gana Art announces a group exhibition of works by Korean artists, on view from January 7 - February 6, 2010. Works on view include sculpture, photography, mixed-media and oil on canvas by 11 Korean contemporary artists, reflecting their wide array of utopian and dystopian visions of a fast-growing postmodern, transnational culture. This exhibition features artists who are based both in Korea and abroad. Regardless of where they are based and despite widely varying backgrounds, these artists demonstrate their adeptness at incorporating the new, while maintaining a tenacious and distinctive hold on traditional spiritual and aesthetic values.

Since 1983, Gana Art Gallery has been a pioneer in the rapidly developing art market in Korea. Gana has established an international presence as a result of its efforts to promote Korean art internationally. Gana is a major cultural institution in Korea and is well known for its exhibitions and art related activities including the launching of the Gana Art Center in Seoul in 1998.
