In dozens of works, one can find people who met the "Brücke" and became its companions, sometimes for years. The new exhibition "MOMENTS OF ENCOUNTER - The 'Brücke' and their Models" follows traces and sheds light on the manifold relationships of the painters with their models.
These portraits, nudes and figures, painted in oil, drawn on paper, cut in wood or carved into panels, bear witness to the respective moments of encounter with Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Erich Heckel, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Otto Mueller, Hermann Max Pechstein and Emil Nolde. They provide an insight into the artists' life stages, developments and artistic interests, and are often a reflection of their very own emotional state. Selected sculptures by Karl Hartung show the representation of the human being in the genre of sculpture.
In the exhibition, we invite you to embark on a journey to the life stories of the "Brücke" artists, creating your own personal "moments of encounter" with the works of art.
You can reach us from the SBB railway station by tram 2 (direction "Eglisee"), which takes you to "Badischer Bahnhof", where you change to tram 6 (direction "Riehen, Grenze") to the "Riehen-Dorf" stop. Or take the regional train S6 (direction "Zell") to the stop "Riehen".
