At our booth 444 we are going to present this year paintings, sculptures and works on paper by the following artists:
Max Beckmann, Jürgen Brodwolf, George Grosz, Karl Hartung, Erich Heckel, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Otto Mueller, Edvard Munch, Ernst Wilhelm Nay, Emil Nolde, Hermann Max Pechstein, Max Pfeiffer Watenphul, Daniel Spoerri, Fritz Winter
The painting «Die Erscheinung der Sieben im Eulenspiegel», has an original Kirchner frame, with a profile designed by the artist himself and painted by his own hand in colours related to the painting. A scene from Charles de Coster's stories of the in Central Europe known jokester named Eulenspiegel, published in 1867, is represented: The haughtiness, leading the personifications of the seven deadly sins to the right, threw Thyl and Nele to the ground. They lie on the ground in the front of the cavalcade of the figures surrounded by a blue dream cloud. Pride, gluttony and greed vested in brown and dark blue robes and with green as well as red faces. Lust, sloth, wrath and envy are naked and each held as sculptures in strong colour. Kirchner has repeatedly dealt with illustrations of literature of his interest.
In addition to never before shown works by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, you may also see at our both of TEFAF Maastricht 2018 works by the other «Die Brücke» members, from Erich Heckel to Emil Nolde and Hermann Max Pechstein. We will also present other well-known expressionists such as Max Beckmann, Karl Hofer and Otto Mueller.
The post-war Abstraction will be represented by an intensely coloured painting by Ernst Wilhem Nay and 3 very intense works on canvas by Fritz Winter. By the social critic and satirist Georg Grosz we show a female nude. Furthermore we will bring a selction of graphic works to the fair, including a rare lithograph by Edvard Munch. All this is complemented by a few sculptures: Bronzes by Daniel Spoerri and Karl Hartung and a early figurine by Jürgen Brodwolf.
