Covered the Algerian War and then moved to Central Africa

Moved to Asia, photographing in Vietnam

Member of Magnum Photos

Covered the Yom Kippur War and then worked in Cambodia

Covered Asia from his base in Thailand

Moved to New York to assume the presidency of Magnum Photos, a post he held for a record five years
