Program of the in focus Gallery at art KARLSRUHE 2022

At art Karlsruhe 2022 we will show a representative cross-section of the gallery's international program with the following artists:

1) Herbert Döring-Spengler (D) was born in Cologne in 1944 and is one of the most distinguished Polaroid artists of the present. On the occasion of the awarding of the Rhenish Art Prize 2020 to Herbert Döring-Spengler and the current exhibition at in focus Galerie, the publication "Egal, wie du es siehst, ich sehe es anders" ("No matter how you see it, I see it differently") was published with 144 pages and over 120 mostly full-page color images.

2) Elliott Erwitt (USA) was born in Paris in 1928 and has worked as a professional photographer since 1949. Elliott Erwitt is one of the most famous living photographers in the world. He finds the mischievous, the ironic, the humorous and the thoughtful in the everyday.

3) Sissi Farassat (A) was born in Tehran in 1969 and moved with her family to Vienna in 1978, where she still lives and has worked as an artist since 1991. Sissi Farassat's unique works are largely autobiographical and often reveal her personal story through a unique combination of influences from art and design, both Persian and Viennese cultures.

4) Anna Halm Schudel (CH) was born in Bern in 1945 and has been an independent artist and photographer since 1973. For over 25 years, the Zurich artist has been intensively involved with flowers and blossoms.

5) Scarlett Hooft Graafland (NL) was born in 1973 At the beginning Scarlett Hooft Graafland took photographs mainly to document her sculptures and representations, but gradually the photographs became her very own form of expression. Her photographs of temporary installations in remote landscapes touch on important themes such as the disappearance of traditional cultures and the fragility of nature. Nevertheless, her works always seem light, colorful and surreal.

6) Thomas Kellner (D) was born in Bonn in 1966 and has been working as an artist since 1997. Thomas Kellner is mainly interested in architecture and multi-perspective photography.

 7) Jan Saudek (CR) was born in Prague in 1935 and has been working with photography since the 1950s, staging his own pictorial reality. Central themes in Saudek's work are aging, sexuality, the understanding of the roles of men and women, the sensuality of life, but also death.  Today he is considered the most famous living photographer in the Czech Republic.

8) Louis Stettner (USA) was born in New York in 1922 (died 2016), and over the course of his eight-decade career created a unique approach to photographing everyday life. He developed his own point of view that fused the boldness of American street photography with the softer humanism of his Parisian contemporaries.
