1931
Began working for J. Florian Mitchell, a commercial portrait photographer in the Bronx.
1935
Met Henri Cartier-Bresson when he spent a year in New York.
1936
Bought a secondhand Leica, the camera Cartier-Bresson favored.
1939
Had her first work published in Fortune Magazine's issue on New York City.
1940
Her her Halloween picture was included in the inaugural exhibition of the Museum of Modern Art’s photography department.
1943
Has her first solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art.
