Mario Merz (1925 – 2003) still belongs to the most celebrated Arte Povera artists from Italy. He shows with Konrad Fischer Galerie since 1970. \"Pythagoras’ House\" is a glass and steel construction shaped like an igloo, partly covered with slate and marble plates fixed with clamps and decorated with illuminated Fibonacci neon numbers and brushwood. The igloos are the best-known and most typical works within the oeuvre of Mario Merz.

Daniel Buren is one of nine selected artists by curator Jens Hoffmann to transform a variety of unique locations throughout Basel from Thursday, June 17, 2010 onwards.
