KUNKEL FINE ART, in cooperation with ARTCURIAL and THOLE ROTERMUND KUNSTHANDEL, is pleased to present the third edition of the German-French joint exhibition "Linienspiel und Farbenrausch - Arbeiten auf Papier des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts" (The Power of Colour and Line - Artworks on paper from the 20th to the 21st century) from March 19th to 21st, 2020 at Galeriestr. 2B in Munich.
Works on paper are one of the most popular areas of collecting for many reasons. Regardless of whether it is a fleeting sketch or a complex composition, hardly any other medium offers as many possibilities for the visual realization of an idea.
New in the program of KUNKEL FINE ART is the Berlin artist Kristin Kolb. Her motifs originate from the domestic and exotic animal world, which she transforms into both realistic and surreal images, using almost old-masterly drawing techniques on unique materials like old books.
The Berlin artist Jacqueline Ostermann is known for her powerful fashion illustration, that reflects the individual nature and beauty of the depicted person. Not without a wink of humor, she makes for example use of animal motifs to mirror the animalistic side of her models.
Furthermore the exhibition glances at Expressionism and New Objectivity, represented by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Otto Dill, Dodo, Julia Feininger, Rudolf Schlichter and Karl Hubbuch. To this day, their works reveal the wide range of stylistic expression within Classical Modernism: The focus is often on people in their various emotional states.
