DIE GEHEIMNISSE DES SEINSTHE SECRETS OF EXISTENCE
with works by Leonor Fini, Mona Hatoum, Rebecca Horn, Dora Maar, Meret Oppenheim, Kiki Smith, Dorothea Tanning, Toyen, Rosemarie Trockel & Irène Zurkinden

We are delighted to invite you to the exhibition The Secrets of Existence at LEVY Salon in Hamburg between May 11 and Jun 15, 2023. The premises can be visited Tuesday until Thursday between 10 am and 6 pm by prior appointment.

The group exhibition The Secrets of Existence pays homage to the artistic congeniality of the artists Leonor Fini, Mona Hatoum, Rebecca Horn, Dora Maar, Meret Oppenheim, Kiki Smith, Dorothea Tanning, Marie Čermínová Toyen, Rosemarie Trockel & Irène Zurkinden. In their work, these artists balance a rational view of life with a perception of our world that is also deeply aware of the power of the transcendent, subconscious and emotional spheres. In addressing the essential questions of being, the selected works approach our interconnectedness with nature and the cosmos, where our intuitive and animalistic primal forces are rooted. The works unfold their magic and aura in their very ephemeral, vulnerable and metamorphic essence, exploring the fundamental forces of our world. Enigmatically, they uncover the (in)finity of our existence from the innermost structures of the earth up to the spiritual realm of the cosmos. The intimate juxtaposition–predominantly works on paper, photographic works, and objects–opens new horizons to reflect on conceptual, aesthetic and formal affinities and to engage in a sensitive, poetic and subversive artistic dialogue.
