Santa Fe, NM—LewAllen Galleries is pleased to announce its upcoming exhibition, Conversations. Running from December 4, 2009 through January 10, 2010, the show will present diverse selections from each of LewAllen’s Modern and Contemporary departments as never before exhibited. Featuring rigorously curated pairings of works thrust into new states of dialogue, the exhibition will invite audiences to participate in a highly active mode of viewing—one in which narratives are discovered, formal relationships examined, and corollaries between disparate techniques are gradually unearthed.

Manifesting LewAllen Galleries’ long-held belief that there is no one correct way of looking, the show’s concept exemplifies an intuitive and democratic approach to curatorial practice. Allied to the idea that the meaning of an art object is defined no less by its viewers than by its creators, the exhibition hopes to establish a participatory model in which meanings are endlessly renegotiated, new linkages are formed between signs and symbols, and diversity is perceived in all its intensity. Prompting new itineraries within the history of art, Conversations signals LewAllen Galleries’ sustained commitment to fostering an exciting and evolving visual program.
