Lisson Gallery is pleased to present its first exhibition with Van Hanos, having recently announced representation in all its locations: New York, London and Shanghai. The exhibition, which will comprise entirely of new works (all 2021), will also be the Marfa-based artist's first solo show in New York. Hanos' work ranges from playful, enigmatic compositions to dense, hyper-real and psychologically gripping environments, representing the artist's mastery of his medium and refusal to identify by any one genre or style. Extending from landscape to portraiture, beyond categorization as either figuration or abstraction, Van Hanos' paintings navigate perceptual shifts and thematic rupture. Representative of the artist's psyche, the exhibition will feature 15 markedly different paintings, all created simultaneously.
