Biography

Timeline

1951
Born in Binghamton, New York.
1973
Attended the Whitney Museum of American Art Studio Program in New York City. He became part of the Co- Lab (Collaborative Projects) movement, a group dedicated to going beyond the traditional art world.
1978 - 1979
Directed and produced The Deadly Art of Survival, his first feature length film.
1980 - 1982
Directed and produced Wild Style , a film portraying the rising hip-hop and graffiti culture that Ahearn was fascinated by.
2003
"Art in the Age of Hip Hop", a two-person talk with Ahearn and Fred Brathwaite, The School of The Art Institute of Chicago
2005
Hosted a weekly talk/music internet radio show on WPS1.org called “Yes Yes Y’all” with guests: Biz Markie, Bambaataa, Rammellzee, Grand Master Caz, etc.
He was a professor at Pace Univeristy in New York City and taught Hip-Hop, Art and Design, Picture Art, and a School of Visual Art class called Street Art.
The film director and creative cultural artist currently lives in New York City.
