Private view: Thursday 15th January 6.00 - 8.00 pm

Maureen Paley is pleased to present Ruth Root’s second solo exhibition at the gallery. Ruth Root’s non objective paintings use bold industrial colours and aesthetically ordered geometries that invoke cityscapes, product design, and 1960s techno-graphics. The internal workings of each painting, rendered on shaped aluminium, corrupt the idea of pre-fab form. Though primarily concerned with the tautology of painting itself, the works are mounted flush to the wall creating an optical intervention within the architectural space of the exhibition.
