Meyerovich Gallery proudly announces Alex Katz new releases "Purple Hat" and "Spring Flowers." Two vibrant and captivating artworks by one of New York’s leading artist which are featured in the new exhibition Alex Katz at 90. Katz works have been collected and exhibited extensively in the US and around the world. This year, Katz celebrates his 90th birthday and a career that spans an impressive seven decades.
Meyerovich Gallery’s current exhibition, Alex Katz at 90, which runs until November 30, 2017, includes a extensive selection of his latest and most recent works, more than 30 images. The subjects of these bold, large to mid-sized works include colorful portraits, large lush landscapes, human figure, multi-colored still-life, and vibrant flowers created by the artist using an assortment of complex mediums. Meyerovich Gallery has a 30 year history of exhibiting paintings and works on paper by Alex Katz. Alex Katz is associated with the Pop Art movement and is known for his bold, hard-edged figurative portraits and landscapes, among the most recognizable images in contemporary art. The exhibition includes a collection of landscapes including luscious greens and solid tree trunks, in “10:30AM” (55 x 74 inches) an unforgettable and seductively elegant human figure departing with a green background titled “Departure” (60 x 40 inches).
Alex Katz (b. 1927) is an internationally acclaimed American artist and regarded as one of the most important and influential artists of his generation. Katz, who lives and works in New York City, has been the subject of more than 200 solo exhibitions since 1951. His works have been collected and exhibited extensively in the US and around the world. Works by Alex Katz can be found in over 100 public collections worldwide. Most notably, those in America include: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; Albright-Knox Museum, Buffalo; The Art Institute of Chicago; The Brooklyn Museum; Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; Des Moines Art Center; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden at the Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.; and the Tate Gallery (England), among others.
